New Perks for Skippers with Croatia’s Coastal B Certificate.
Heading to Croatia for your next vacation and planning to skipper a yacht? Great news! The Coastal B License in Croatia, also known as the Coastal Patent B, has received significant updates that improve its international recognition and practical use for yacht charters and all boating enthusiasts.
These changes are now in effect and apply to all newly issued certificates—with existing holders able to update their boat licenses or skipper licenses upon request.
Key updates include:
-
Extended vessel rights: Skippers can now operate recreational boats and yachts up to 18 meters in length. This broadens opportunities for yacht license and skipper license holders exploring the stunning Adriatic coast or venturing further abroad.
-
International scope: The updated license clearly states the skipper’s competence to operate up to 12 nautical miles from the coast or islands, removing the previous Adriatic-only restriction. This change boosts the status of the license as a valid international skipper certification.
Bonus: VHF radio license included
One standout improvement is the integrated VHF radio authorization, allowing holders to legally operate maritime radio equipment without needing a separate license. This aligns the Coastal B License with many international yacht license requirements and makes it a preferred choice for charter companies in Croatia and beyond.
